What We Install in Thirsk
We cover the full range of made-to-measure window furnishings for homes and businesses in Filey, so you can dress a single awkward window or an entire property from one supplier:
- Plantation shutters in hardwood, faux wood and moisture-resistant ABS, including full height, tier-on-tier, cafe style, bi-fold and bay window arrangements.
- Venetian blinds in wooden, faux wood and aluminium slats, available in 25mm, 35mm and 50mm widths.
- Roller blinds in blackout, dim-out, sunscreen and moisture-resistant fabrics, with optional cassette headboxes and side channels.
- Roman blinds handmade in designer fabrics, with blackout, thermal and interlined options.
- Perfect Fit blinds that clip into uPVC frames with no drilling, ideal for conservatories, tilt-and-turn windows and rented homes.
- Made-to-measure curtains, along with the poles, tracks and tiebacks to hang them properly.
- Conservatory blinds, including shaped roof and lantern shading.
- Commercial blinds for offices, schools, shops and hotels.
- Smart motorisation for blinds and shutters, controlled by remote, wall switch or smartphone.
How the Process Works
Every job follows the same straightforward route, and the first three steps cost you nothing:
- Free home visit. We come to you in Bedale with sample books, so you can judge slat finishes and fabrics against your own walls, flooring and daylight rather than under showroom lighting.
- Precise measuring. We measure every window ourselves. You are never asked to supply your own figures, so the fit is our responsibility rather than yours.
- Written quotation. A clear, itemised price with no obligation and no follow-up pressure.
- Manufacture. Your order is made to your exact measurements.
- Installation. We fit everything personally and clear up properly before we leave.
- Aftercare. If anything needs attention later, call us and we will come back out.

Why Use a Local Installer in Thirsk?
We are a family-run business with over 30 years of experience, and we work across Filey and the surrounding villages ourselves rather than sending a subcontractor. In practice that means the person who measures your windows is the same person who comes back to fit them, and the same person you speak to if something needs adjusting a year later.
It also means we are close enough to call back easily. Window furnishings occasionally need a small tweak once they have settled, a cord shortened or a bracket repositioned, and being local makes that a quick visit rather than a scheduling problem. Because most of our work in Filey comes from recommendations and repeat customers, that aftercare matters more to us than chasing a one-off sale.
We are also happy to say when something is not worth doing. If a window would be better served by a simpler product than the one you had in mind, or if your existing blinds only need a repair rather than replacing, we will tell you that at the survey rather than quoting for the larger job.
Common Questions from Thirsk Customers
Do you charge for measuring and quoting in Thirsk?
No. The home visit, the measuring and the written quotation are all free and carry no obligation, and we bring samples with us so you can see the materials in place before deciding.
How long does an installation take?
Most domestic jobs are fitted in a single visit, typically two to four hours depending on how many windows are involved. Larger properties or full-house shutter installations may need a second day, which we will tell you about at the quotation stage rather than on the day.
Are your blinds and shutters child safe?
Yes. Everything we supply meets current UK child safety regulations, with breakaway components, cleats or chain tensioners fitted as required. Where a window sits above a cot, bed or sofa we will usually recommend a cordless or motorised option, which removes the hazard altogether.
Can you match blinds, shutters and curtains in the same room?
Yes, and it is one of the most common things we are asked to do. Because we make roman blinds and curtains from the same fabric books, one fabric can run across both, or you can pick coordinating designs from the same collection. It is also common to fit shutters to a bay and blinds to the smaller windows in the same room, using a matching finish so the two read as one scheme.
Which materials work best in kitchens and bathrooms?
Anywhere that gets consistently steamy, natural hardwood can warp over time, so we would normally point you towards faux wood, aluminium or moisture-resistant ABS instead. These give the same look but cope far better with heat and condensation, and they wipe clean rather than needing careful dusting.
Do you cover the villages around Thirsk?
Yes. As well as Filey itself we cover the surrounding villages and the wider North Yorkshire area, including York, Harrogate, Ripon, Knaresborough, Easingwold, Thirsk and Malton. Our areas page lists everywhere we work in full, and if you are unsure whether you are in range it is worth a quick call.
How do I arrange a visit?
Call Mark on 07708 945435 or send us your details and we will arrange a time that suits you, including evenings if that is easier.
