Inspired Shutters is a family-run business with over 30 years of experience supplying and fitting made-to-measure shutters, blinds and curtains. We are based at Newton on Ouse, just outside York, and we cover York and the whole of North Yorkshire from there.
The business is run by Mark and Heather. That matters more than it might sound: the person who visits your home to measure is the same person who comes back to fit the blinds, and the same person you speak to if you have a question two years later. Nothing is handed to a subcontractor, and there is no sales team working to a commission target.
How We Work
Every job follows the same straightforward process, and the first three steps cost you nothing.
- Free home consultation. We come to you with sample books and materials, so you can see slat finishes and fabrics against your own walls, flooring and daylight rather than under showroom lighting.
- Precise measuring. We measure every window ourselves. You are never asked to supply your own measurements, which means the fit is our responsibility, not yours.
- Written quotation. You get a clear, itemised price with no obligation to proceed and no follow-up pressure.
- Manufacture. Your order is made to your exact measurements by our suppliers.
- Professional installation. Mark and Heather fit everything personally and clear up properly afterwards.
- Aftercare. If something needs adjusting later, call us. We are local and we answer the phone.

We cover the full range of made-to-measure window furnishings for homes and businesses:
- Plantation shutters in hardwood, faux wood and moisture-resistant ABS.

Brands and Suppliers We Work With
We are independent, so we are not tied to a single manufacturer's range. That lets us specify the right system for your window rather than the only one we are allowed to sell. Our blind systems come from established names in the industry:
For curtains and roman blinds we work from the sample books of a wide range of British and European fabric houses, including Iliv, Clarke & Clarke, Abraham Moon & Sons, Edmund Bell, Fryetts, Drapes UK and Eclipse.

Payment
We accept cash, BACS bank transfer and cheque. Payment terms are set out in writing with your quotation before anything is ordered, so you know exactly what is due and when.
